Why the scope is nearly always bigger than you think, and why that is better found early.
Most clients come to us thinking they have got a good handle on their job. Budget in mind, rough scope, a timescale in their head. And fair enough. But there is one thing that gets underestimated nearly every single time, and that is the full extent and importance of the work itself, especially on a removal.
Proper asbestos removal is not just pulling material out of a building. It is correct containment. It is proper, high-quality decontamination. It is independent testing, kept completely separate from the removal. Every bit of it is done to a standard that does not bend. That is where the real risk sits, and it is usually the bit a client has thought about least before we sit down and scope it out properly.
And that gap closes fast once we are around the table. We start scoping it with the client, and it quickly becomes clear the job is bigger and more involved than they first thought. That is not me talking the job up. It is what comes from having done the same kind of work, on the same kind of buildings, for the same kind of clients, more times than I can count.
That experience is the whole point. Sound judgement, built on previous jobs, means we spot the real requirement early, before it becomes a problem on site. And believe me, on site is the worst possible place to discover your scope was wrong. Find it early, deal with it, move on. That is the job done right.
