Demolition Works, St Peter's Hospital, Chertsey

Project overview
Spectra was commissioned to carry out the complete controlled demolition of the former nursing accommodation at St Peter's Hospital. Their responsibilities included demolishing the buildings, excavating the existing slab to a depth of two metres, and handling all materials generated during the project.
Approach and delivery
While working in a live healthcare environment, Spectra implemented strict safety and environmental protocols to ensure the demolition was safe and did not disrupt hospital operations. Waste was carefully sorted and processed on-site, with materials crushed to a certified 6F2 standard, supporting recycling and sustainability. This approach provided the client with a stockpile of reusable materials for future use. The demolition was meticulously planned and executed to minimise noise, dust, and vibrations, with continuous monitoring and clear communication throughout.
Outcome
The project was finished on time, within budget, and fully satisfied the client's expectations. The completed site was tidy, compliant with regulations, and utilised certified recycled aggregates prepared for reuse, maximising value and reducing environmental impact.
