Project Overview:

Spectra was responsible for carefully removing asbestos-containing thermal insulation debris from a former boiler house and adjacent rooms at a commercial site in Manchester. The project involved detailed planning, installing secure enclosure systems, and using specialised removal methods to meet all asbestos safety regulations and prioritise the client’s safety.

Approach & Delivery:

Under strictly controlled conditions, Spectra used the quilling method to carefully remove insulation residues from brickwork and nearby surfaces. They built a complete enclosure around the work area, keeping it under continuous negative pressure to prevent fibre dispersal and safeguard surrounding areas. Our licensed team followed a detailed process that included debris removal, brickwork, controlled decontamination, and continuous air monitoring during the project. All waste was properly packaged, managed, and transported according to regulatory standards, ensuring full traceability and compliance with CAR 2012.

Outcome:

The project was finished on time within the four-week schedule, meeting all safety and quality requirements. A fully cleared, compliant environment was handed over to the client, ready for future maintenance or refurbishment. Spectra’s collaboration with the PLC maintenance contractor facilitated effective coordination and a smooth delivery process.
